Bringing Home Baby

Three days later baby and Mom were able to come home from the hospital. After securing her in the car seat screaming we left the hospital for our first night at home.

DRESSED AND READY TO GO HOME

As soon as we arrived home an endless stream of visitors began coming through our doors. One after another. After showing Kate her new home and introducing her to Mickey -- our curious cat, we put her to bed, only to awake a few hours later.

New Arrival

GRAN PAT ANXIOUSLY WAITING

MINUTES AFTER HER ARRIVAL

DADDY AND BABY KATE

Arriving later than expected, we welcomed baby Kathryn Jean Hamor on March 15, 2007 at 6:58 weighing 8 lbs 10 oz. While she was a big baby, labour and delivery were quite a bit easier than the horrific experience I had come to expect. The real challenges came minutes after her delivery, as we waited intently to hear her first screams. After a few long minutes baby 'Kate' was given to her Daddy for the first time. She had her big blue eyes open and took everything in around her. Her head was full of light brown curly hair, just like her mother.

Grandpa Ian, Nana Helen, Papa Jerry, Aunt Karen and Uncle Devin all waited intently in the waiting room, while 'Gran' Pat wandered the halls trying to sneak a peak in the delivery room. Minutes after the delivery Dad went to share the good news, but was too excited to get many out, only saying "It's over" -- instead of "It's a girl"!

The first night in the hospital was a breeze compared to the first night home from the hospital. Dad changed his first diaper and learned how to swaddle baby Kate, while Mom slept through the night!
